{"id":1552,"date":"2018-04-08T20:41:34","date_gmt":"2018-04-08T20:41:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pourianazemi.com\/en\/?p=1552"},"modified":"2018-04-10T21:22:59","modified_gmt":"2018-04-10T21:22:59","slug":"earthquakes-of-iran-in-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pourianazemi.com\/en\/earthquakes-of-iran-in-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Earthquakes of Iran in 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2017, Iran had experienced\u00a0more than 180 earthquakes\u00a0with the magnitude of 2.5 in <a href=\"https:\/\/earthquake.usgs.gov\/learn\/topics\/measure.php\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">the scale of Richter<\/span><\/strong><\/a> or more.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The deadliest one happened, near the city of Kermanshah in the west of Iran in November with the mag of 7.3 in the scale of Richter. This Earthquake left more than 630 people killed and many more injured.<\/p>\n<p>In these set of maps, I tried to put all the earthquakes\u00a0of Iran in 2017, in perspective.<\/p>\n<h6>Where and how powerful?<\/h6>\n<p>The first map is created by <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/public.tableau.com\/en-us\/s\/\"><strong>Tableau<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">and show the distribution\u00a0of all earthquakes that happened\u00a0in Irna during 2017.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> In this bubble map center of each circle is placed at the coordinate of the center of the\u00a0earthquakes. At the same time, the radius and color of each circle represent the mag of earthquakes. I map the focal points of each earthquake\u00a0based on their lat\/long parameters and then used the magnitude\u00a0of each event both for creating color and diameter.<\/p>\n<p>For this map, I excluded the data points that represent earthquakes\u00a0with\u00a0the focal point outside of the Iran\u00a0boundaries.<\/p>\n<p>You can find this map embedded\u00a0in this page and also can find it <a href=\"https:\/\/public.tableau.com\/views\/iranearthquake2017\/Sheet1?:embed=y&amp;:display_count=yes\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">here<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I also used the time parameter of each event as an additional parameter to produce a time series of events by tableau. then I extarct each frame and make a GIF animated picture based on more than 180 entry\u00a0point. I used Adobe Primer to produce this GIF.<\/p>\n<p>For the heatmap, I used Google fusion, but this time I didn&#8217;t\u00a0exclude the earthquakes\u00a0with the focal points, outside of Iran.
